My local "supermarket", Bd Richard Lenoir (Thursday and Sunday)

Outside my door on Bd Richard Lenoir the biggest farmer's market in Paris takes place every Thursday and Sunday from 9-13 am. You can get almost any kind of fresh produce and tons of different kinds of fish and french dishes. We allways stock up on vegetables and fruit as this is a lot cheaper (and better) than the supermarket. This is one of my favorite things about living in Paris and it will be probably be what I will miss the most....

My local boulangerie, 11 arrondissement

I have a thing for cakes. I simple love them and I could eat them every day if they were just a bit healthier. I am amazed at how pretty the cakes in Paris are. Even the smallest boulangerie have a ton of different cakes to choose from and it is going to be a challenge not to gain 10 kgs while living here. I tried these three (Charlotte, Eclair and the last one I can't remember) the other day and they were all delicious...

Merci, 111 bd Beaumarchais

Merci is a great store in Paris, well worth visiting if nothing else for their small, but cosy cafe - The used books. The store stocks furniture, fashion items from Isabel Marant and repetto etc and all their profits goes to childrens charity in Madagascar.
It is one of the most hyped stores in Paris at the moment, and it is an interesting store, but for the fashion items I have been a bit disappointed, as I believe the selection is better elsewhere. But with that said I will still be going back...

The macaron quest - Hugo & Victor, 40 Boulevard Raspail

I absolutely love macarons. I think it is the most amazing little cake ever made. Here in Paris it is a cake that can be found in almost all boulangeries, but where can you buy the best macarons in town?

I am still early in my quest, but I visited the amazing store Hugo & Victor (http://www.hugovictor.com/). It is a beautiful, gastronomic chocolat and bakery store that makes amazing macarons.
It will not be my last visit....

Early sales in Paris

Though the sales aren't suppose to begin before the 12th of January, most stores have already started to mark things down. In France this is done through a colourcoding system where purple means 50 % off, red 30 % off - yellow, green and blue are still a bit confusing to me...

I made the first good bargain at Sandro with a white and blue striped wool and cashmere cardigan. Sandro is a parisienne based company that makes cloth for both men and women. The style is young, while still classic with a twist. Love it....

Café Charlot, 38 Rue de Bretagne

It migth seem a little strange that my first blog from Paris is about the best cheeseburger I ever had - but such a thing seems worth mentioning. Also because Café Charlot is for other reasons a really nice restaurant on the outskirts of  Le Marais. The decor seemed very Parisienne and it gave the place a really good atmosphere. It won't be my last visit....
